Cristina Espaillat
Cristina Espaillat,
founder · est. 2011
Sculpere began with an injury — and the slow work of returning to a body that had spent nineteen years in ballet.

Cristina started classical ballet at five, training at the Rock School and earning a BFA in Dance Performance from Butler University. She danced professionally with City Ballet of San Diego until a foot injury in 2005 ended her career on stage. The recovery led her to yoga and Pilates — first as rehabilitation, then as practice, then as the work of a lifetime.

She completed her 200-hour yoga certification at the Yoga Life Institute in 2007 and opened Sculpere in Northern Liberties in 2011. The studio is what she's built it to be over the years since: small classes, real attention, a methodology refined slowly over more than a decade. Studied closely. Taught with precision.

In 2017, Cristina was invited to teach the summer intensive at the School of the Philadelphia Ballet, and went on to serve six years on its faculty — bringing what she'd built at Sculpere to the next generation of professional dancers.

Small classes. Real teachers. In Northern Liberties since 2011. The kind of studio that doesn't try to be a chain — because it never was, and never will be.

02 — The Sculpere Method

Four phases.
One system.

Classes are sequenced to move through varying intensity and stillness — to match the body's rhythms rather than override them. A system built over more than a decade, designed to deliver balanced results in body and mind.
Phase 01
Gentle

For beginners and those returning after a hiatus. Strength and flexibility through gentle flows, restorative stretches, and deep breath. Bringing balance to body, mind, and spirit.

Gentle Yoga · Pilates Mat
Phase 02
Challenge

For those familiar with the breath and pace. Vinyasa and Pilates to energize, build heat, and open the body to its full range. Detox, stretch, and sculpt.

Vinyasa · Power Yoga
Phase 03
Sculpt

The complement to the practice. Full-body work with deep concentration on core, glutes, and thighs. Long, strong physique built through repetition and precision.

Core Sculpt · Yoga Sculpt
Phase 04
Restore

The closing of the cycle. Slow, considered work to return the nervous system to balance — undoing what the week has built up in the body.

Core & Restore · Restorative
